Facts about Quran
- The Quran is a book that leads humanity to the straight path of life.
- This is the Book! There is no doubt about it—a guide for those mindful of Allah. (Al-Quran:Sura Al- Baqarah, Ayat #2)
- Allah (SWA) says in Quran, ”O People of the Book! Now Our Messenger has come to you, revealing much of what you have hidden of the Scriptures and disregarding much. There certainly has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book. Through which Allah guides those who seek His pleasure to the ways of peace, brings them out of darkness and into light by His Will, and guides them to the Straight Path. (Al-Quran:Sura AlMaidah, Ayat #15-16)
- The Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad from Allah (SWA) over the period of 23 years, beginning in the year 609 CE or AD.
- The Quran is considered the original and unaltered word of Allah (God) since its revelation to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) over 1,400 years ago. Divine Protection of the Quran i.e. The Quran itself affirms its protection from alteration, “Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an and indeed, We will be its guardian.” (Quran, Surah Al-Hijr 15:9). This verse mean that Allah has taken responsibility for safeguarding the Quran from corruption or alteration over time. Manuscripts of the Quran from the earliest periods, such as the Birmingham Quran manuscript (dated to the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad or shortly after), show remarkable consistency with the Quran that is recited and written today.
